Frequently Asked Questions

What is ShareServe International? ShareServe International is a non-profit working in rural Kenya that empowers primary school pupils as Environmental Champions. Through school-based Green Clubs, tree planting, mentorship and sustainable livelihood programmes, we help communities build long-term ecological resilience.

What is an Environmental Champion? An Environmental Champion is a primary school pupil who leads environmental action at their school and in their community — planting and caring for trees, running Green Club activities, and mentoring younger pupils. Champions progress through leadership stages from Seedling to Guardian.

What is a Green Club? A Green Club is a student-led group at a partner school, guided by a patron teacher. Members meet weekly to plan tree-planting drives, tend indigenous nurseries, run clean-ups, and take environmental lessons back to their families.

Where does ShareServe work? We currently work with partner schools in Embu and Tharaka-Nithi counties in rural Kenya, with plans to reach many more schools as the programme grows.

How does sponsoring a Champion work? When you sponsor an Environmental Champion, your support funds seedlings and nursery tools, Green Club activities, mentorship and leadership training, and the tracking of every tree planted. Because each tree is logged against a named champion, your impact is transparent and traceable.

How are the trees tracked? Every tree planted through the programme is logged and monitored against a named champion, so planting is not a one-off event — it becomes a living, tracked forest that is cared for over time.

Why do you plant indigenous trees? Indigenous and fruit species are adapted to local soils and rainfall, so far more of them survive the dry season. They restore ecosystems, support biodiversity, stabilise soil, and — in the case of fruit trees — provide nutrition and income for families.

How can my school, organisation or business partner with ShareServe? We welcome partnerships with schools, NGOs, businesses and government bodies. Visit our Get Involved page or contact us at info@shareserve.org to discuss how we can work together.

Is my donation safe and where does it go? Donations are processed securely through trusted payment providers, and we never store your card details. Funds go directly toward programme costs — seedlings, tools, training, mentorship and tree tracking — that support young Environmental Champions.

How can I get involved? You can sponsor a Champion, make a donation, partner with us, or help spread the word. Visit our Get Involved page to see the options and start today.
